How do you plan routes for your home delivery business? Do you pull out a crinkled old map and carefully plot each point by hand? Chances are you don’t do that, as we all know that would be inefficient and likely full of errors. But are you taking advantage of the technology available to effectively plan your delivery routes? If you’re not using a fully integrated delivery software like Delivery Biz Pro, then you probably are not.

The Problem With Manual Routing or Free Route Makers

Manual routing is not only time-consuming, it also leaves room for human error. Anytime you need to import addresses one by one into a routing software, you run the risk of accidentally skipping customers, meaning you’re not delivering what people have paid you to do.

At the same time, most free routing programs only allow you to design a route based on addresses, and cannot accurately account for unexpected road construction, last-minute changes to orders, or anything of the sort.

In short, this type of route planning doesn’t allow you to empower your drivers like Delivery Biz Pro does. Our software gives drivers the ability to take orders on the road, move routes around heavy traffic without missing any homes, and so much more.

Choose A Delivery Routing Software That Is Fully Integrated

Delivery routes aren’t just addresses. You need to ensure every aspect of your software is integrated so that a route is planned based on who actually needs a delivery that day and what they ordered.

Delivery Biz Pro truly does it all. One of the key benefits of DBP software is its ability to generate load and drop sheets with the click of a button. This means your team will be able to load trucks in a first-one-in-last-one-out order that makes drop-offs a breeze. You can also order your load sheets alphabetically, based on the warehouse location, or any other number of arrangements.

Routes can be designated by region or by day of the week so that customers and drivers have more input about their deliveries. They can also send text alerts to customers to let them know their delivery has been dropped off so that everyone is always kept in the loop — all with one convenient app interface. All of this is done with one goal in mind: to make your business better.

Using these tools allows you to focus your efforts elsewhere, cut down on delivery costs, and provide better service to your customers.

Our route planning software makes running a delivery business easy. That’s because we do so much more than just routing! We are often asked, “Will your delivery management software work for my business?” In many cases, the answer is yes, simply because we offer so many customizable features and admin tools that empower you to get what you need out of the software.

That said, one of the biggest industries we serve is the fresh meat and dairy delivery industry which is growing every day. Customers want to know where their meat is coming from. They want to know that the milk they give their children is as pure as possible. Companies like Eketahuna Country Meats makes it easy.

Optimizing Business With Our Meat & Dairy Software

Eketahuna Country Meats is a meat and dairy delivery business in New Zealand. They began eight years ago as a family with three young children. Like many people, they wanted to feed their children a diet that is high in quality and as low in processed foods as possible. So, they started producing their own meat. Then, they started offering their products to other families and their business continued to grow.

They specialize in sustainably raised beef, lamb, and pork products along with fresh milk in glass bottles that are delivered right to the doors of their customers. Their products are entirely free of hormones, antibiotics, and GMOs. Because the company was founded by parents of young children, they pull on the heartstrings of other families looking to feed their children the best products possible.

Meat And Dairy Management Software Helps Keep Things Fresh

Steve Olds, the founder of Eketahuna Country Meats, says they have benefited greatly from partnering with Delivery Biz Pro. He says, “We have been able to expand product volume while improving speed and range of delivery. For perishable items like fresh meat and milk, it’s critical to reach our customers in a timely, accurate fashion and DBP has simplified the process dramatically.”

With the Delivery Biz Pro dairy management software, Eketahuna Country Farms has a beautifully designed website that shows their customers exactly what they can offer them. The meat and dairy software makes it easy to run their business and automatically generates delivery driver routes, sends updates to customers on their orders, and much more

While Eketahuna Country Farms originally sold products only from their own 300-acre farm, they now partner with other local farmers. Not only does this bring those small, sustainable farmers business, but it also expands the types and quantities of products they can offer their customers.

Happy holidays! Here at Delivery Biz Pro (DBP), we’ve been busy providing technical support for our route management software users while spending as much time with our families as we can before the holiday season gets into full swing. On the DBP blog, we spend a lot of time discussing the logistics of our home delivery software and how it can help optimize your recurring delivery business. Today, we’re going to shift gears a little bit and discuss the one person who is perhaps the gold standard in home delivery: Santa Claus.

During this time of year, adults and children alike are reminded of the burning question: How the heck does Santa make a delivery to every Christmas-celebrating household in the entire world in one night? Keep reading to find out, and learn how a good home delivery software can make you almost as efficient at Kris Kringle himself.

The History Of Santa Claus

Whether you know him by Saint Nicholas, Kris Kringle, Father Christmas, or good ol’ Santa Claus, the man with the beard is regaled throughout the world as a one-night-only gift-bringer to children. But how did we get the Santa we know and love today?

Santa Claus as we know him evolved from the historical Saint Nicholas, a fourth-century Greek bishop who was known for his kindness and generosity. His legacy has lasted for centuries. Saint Nicholas soon became known as the patron saint of various groups including sailors and children, as well as the patron saint of entire cities, including Amsterdam and Moscow.

By the Middle Ages, children were given gifts in honor of Saint Nicholas on the day of his death, December 6. However, as religious tensions evolved in Europe, there was an opposition to the worship of saints. In order to keep the tradition of providing gifts to children going, Saint Nicholas became ‘Santa Claus’ and the gift-giving day was moved to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Since then, Santa Claus has evolved from a saint to a jolly, white-bearded man who delivers presents to every child in the world on Christmas Eve.

Santa’s Hectic Delivery Schedule

So, just how many deliveries is Santa expected to make in one day? One source estimates that there are about 526 million Christian children worldwide who might be waiting for St. Nick to deliver a new toy on Christmas Eve. The actual number of people who celebrate gift-giving on Christmas could be much higher. But essentially, that breaks down to over 6,000 kiddos per second that Santa needs to visit. Maybe Santa should get into the delivery software industry and share some of his tips!

Could A Home Delivery Software Help Santa Claus?

A good home delivery software can do a lot. Can it figure out how to help one driver make 6,000 deliveries per second for a 24-hour period? Probably not. But that doesn’t mean people haven’t tried to guess how the big man does it. You can always rely on NORAD to tell you where Santa will be on Christmas Eve.

Santa’s schedule is a lot different than the industries that we help with our home delivery software. While Santa makes deliveries one night a year over the entire world, the industries that DBP serves focus on recurring deliveries. Businesses like small dairy farms or water jug delivery businesses who make deliveries to their customers weekly or biweekly, for example, can benefit from our delivery software.
